ABOUT
Portola High School (PHS) is a “1:1 take-home” school, which means that each learner may check-out a laptop upon enrollment to use at school and at home.
Parents have the option to purchase a $20 insurance from IUSD to cover accidental damage and theft. This is a one-time cost per school year to cover potential incidents like cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged plastics, liquid spills, and theft.
Without insurance, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $30-75 depending on the damage to the device and the total replacement cost of a Chromebook is over $225. Our goal is to ease concerns about damage to devices and continue to support a sustainable take-home program for our schools.
You can sign your student up for Chromebook Insurance at MySchoolBucks.com. If you have any questions about the Insurance program, check with your school or email helpdesk@iusd.org.
- If your learner’s charger is lost, you must purchase a new one from the Learning Commons. Please do NOT purchase third-party chargers.
- If you need technical support for the PHS Chromebook, you may email helpdesk@iusd.org.
Summer Chromebook Policy
Learners may keep the Chromebook over the summer and into the next school year unless your learner is NOT returning to PHS in the Fall.
If you need technical support for the PHS Chromebook over the summer, please email helpdesk@iusd.org.
